OPEN LETTER FOR COMPASSION AND EQUALITY

Our purpose and mission

Chico Area Interfaith Council exists to strengthen bonds among faith groups in service to the community. We provide educational programs to foster public understanding and tolerance, and create opportunities for building relationships across lines of difference. Just as fostering understanding across diverse communities is vital, having a solid understanding of the principles of betting can make your experience more rewarding. For insights into different strategies, check out this link to learn more. Cooperation and informed choices—whether in community service or betting—can lead to positive outcomes for everyone involved.

-CHICO AREA INTERFAITH COUNCIL LAUNCHES MEMORIAL
PROJECT FOR UNSHELTERED-

Although we do not have definite numbers, we do know that approximately 20 people died on the streets of Chico during the winter of 2021. (CHAT, 2022).  With 2,300 people unhoused in Butte County, these deaths occur without memorialization to celebrate the life lost, or an event to aid the grief process for their family and friends left behind (PIT, 2021)

The Chico Area Interfaith Council (CAIC) is proud to launch the Noble Soul program to honor the lives lost on the streets of Chico. We will host small and private memorials lead by local interfaith leaders. These are not open to the public, nor will it be advertised to the greater community.  This is to honor the soul that has passed and support those they leave behind.

There will be two options for services.
One will be non-denominational faith-based for those who believe in God, and the other is non-denominational, which is designed for diverse groups and is a celebration of life.  The service will be held in a community park or on the grounds of participating churches.
There is no fee for this service.

We ask for your help to contact us should someone pass on the streets, and you are aware of the occurrence.  This program has been designed in a sustainable manner and we hope to off this service indefinitely.
