Community Events and Announcements
- Shirley Adams has founded an organization named "Bridging the Gap," which focuses on everyone's need for safe water around the world. She will be biking across the country to raise money for clean water. She sells items from Uganda made by women who have AIDS, through her website and at the Thursday market. - Habitat for Humanity will sponsor, "A Call for Unity" concert on October 20th (featuring Interfaith choruses) at the Chico State BMU. Call for Unity will be an annual event with Habitat for Humanity, simultaneously celebrating the interfaith community and raising awareness of affordable home ownership in Butte County. Audition tapes or CDs are being accepted until August 3rd. You can also help Habitat by sponsoring or building homes. - July 7 07 is the date for a Chico Peace and Justice event to focus on global warming. It will be from 2-7 PM in Children's Park with band "Live Earth," and Fair Trade items.
- The Celebration of Abraham is sponsoring an INTERFAITH PICNIC, set for Sunday July 29th from 1-4 PM on the lawn of the Congregational Church of Chico, 1190 E. 1st Avenue. Bring your favorite dish to share. Drinks provided. Questions? Call Nancy 342-4913 or Mary 343-4948.
- Shalom Free Clinic is hosting a problem solving group conducted by Mr. Ralph Ricci and Charney Herst, PhD. The group will deal with any/all problems of a personal, family or relationship nature. It takes place on Sundays from 2-3:30 PM at Congregational Church of Chico, UCC, 1190 E. 1st Avenue. No cost. Call Nancy with questions at 342-4913 Faith Lutheran is sponsoring a Rwanda Day again this year on September 23. This will be a good event/resource for youth to attend with many hands-on things to do. Starting at 9:30-10:30 AM.
